Hannover, January 2019 | The digital technology of artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly gains grounds in many areas of business, politics and society. The fast and far reaching capacities of AI supported instruments often change the game significantly – and raise new legal questions. When machines take their own autonomous decisions – who then shall be the parties to a contract and who is liable for damages? Can AP systems or their creations be protected under IP law? And what is the responsibility and liability of the management using or not AI in decision making processes? Ulrich Herfurth gave a presentation on AI and law that reflected the current stage of the legal and ethical discussion.
